5 Foods That Make Your Diet Happier

There are foods that make you lose weight.  There are also foods that make you energetic.  Heck, there are even foods that raise your libido.  Something that many of us can have more of, however, are foods that make us happy.

Yes my friends, there are certain foods out there that lighten our mood and brighten our day.  I’ll share 5 foods that contain anti-depressant qualities.

Anti-Depressant Food #1 - Blue Potatoes

It’s not common to see blue potatoes, maybe that’s why we see a lot more angry people.  Brain inflammation is directly related to depression symptoms ergo the ability to reduce that inflammation can reduce depression.  Blue potatoes have powerful antioxidants called anthocyanins that protect the brain from such inflammations.

Anti-Depressant Food #2 – Mussels

Oysters may be more popular because it’s an aphrodisiac but as far as clam delicacies go, but Mussels might be the most underrated.  Mussels contain a lot of iodine which has positive benefits to the thyroid gland - the thyroid gland being a essential component in regulating mood and weight.  This makes Mussels a great happy food.

Anti-Depressant Food #3 – Greek Yogurt

Calcium is not only for stronger bones and healthier teeth, it also helps release happiness-inducing hormones; and Greek Yogurt supplies plenty of it.  Unless you want to ingest toothpaste, I suggest sticking with Greek Yogurt for your calcium-to-release-happiness-hormones fix.

Anti-Depressant Food #4 – Asparagus

Asparagus contains a high amount of Tryptophan.  Tryptophan helps the brain produce serotonin.  Serotonin is that neurotransmitter responsible for inducing a sense of happiness and well-being.  Therefore, Asparagus can help you feel happy.

Anti-Depressant Food #5 – Honey

Honey is not just a term of endearment; it’s also one of the best foods (well ingredients) for happiness.  Honey has high amounts of kaempferol and quercetin which both help in protecting the brain – reducing brain inflammation.  As mentioned above, brain inflammation can contribute to depression and Honey can prevent that from happening.

You see, you don't really need expensive stuffs or thrill rides to make you happy.  Some choice foods here and there can actually help lighten up your mood.
