Facebook’s New York City office is hiring several positions as the company is looking to expand from the ground up. Recently, the social media company advertised that they had 21 openings available, ranging from software engineering to media solutions, to recruiting. The company recently went public and its stock has not performed as well as many experts believed it would. The stock hit a high of $45 per share, but sank down to just over $25 shortly after its initial price offering.
Since then, the company’s stock has risen to about $32 per share, and if Facebook’s past history is any indication, it will continue to perform at a high level. While its rabid user base marks it as one of the most widely used social media tools out there, Facebook is doing a lot at the business level to help increase its price per share and keep the company as financially healthy as possible. In fact, the company saw its stock jump by about 10 percent after it announced that it would be expanding its ad network. Facebook has begun running ads on Zynga, and many experts believe that this is a step in the direction toward Google’s style of advertising. The Google AdSense program has been proven to be widely successful for the search engine giant and Facebook is hoping that they can ride upon this trend and grow a successful stream of ad revenue as well.
Currently, Facebook gets 30 percent of the revenue that Zynga brings in from games sold on their social media site. With all of the pressure that Facebook has felt to show that they can produce accordingly with their high IPO, this advertising step appears to only be a beneficial thing for Facebook. With the extra revenue brought in by ads, they will only be helping themselves and their investors to gain traction within the stock market.
If you compare Facebook to other sites like Google, you can see that there is a lot of room for growth for the newly public company. Google has a price per share of over $500. While this is definitely a long ways off for Facebook, it shows that there is the potential for Facebook to make a lot of money in their expanding marketplace. Facebook has captured the audience and their devotion to their site, now the challenge is to convert that public devotion into income. With Facebook expanding its staff, the odds of their future success become a bit higher. With a savvy net of employees, Facebook will be able to continue to provide a high-quality product. With their new offerings, such as advertising options, they will be bringing in a new stream of income that cannot do anything but help them. Facebook has a great product and it seems that their business plan is moving ahead despite a big loss after their IPO. For Facebook to be successful, they need to show the public that they will continue to expand. With new jobs being offered, this is a big step in that direction.
