Learn the Basics and Installation Procedure of PHP

PHP has become a very popular web language over the past decade. This is partally (mostly?) due to the growth of Web 2.0. The term Web 2.0 came about when sites like Wikipedia were introduced that allowed users to interact with the websites by adding their own content. This was a big step forward for the web since before at time the internet was basically one giant "read only" file. Adding PHP to your website can really help improve the popularity of it by allowing your pages to become more interactive and dynamic. One use for PHP would be displaying your most recent articles or posts, for example. This is a basic example of an activity feed, and many activity feeds are built using PHP. This provides a great way to keep your site visitors updated on what's new. So, if you're not using the language already, you should definitely start as soon as possible. The first thing you'll need to do is download and install PHP on your server if it isn't there already. Most hosting companies include PHP as a standard option, so check with your hosting provider before you go and download it for your server. If you don't already have it, check out the video at the end of this article to see how to download and install PHP. You'll probably want to install PHP, MySQL, and Apache all together. These languages work in harmony to allow you to create the most interactive site that you can. Once you've got everything set up, you can start to learn the PHP programming language and implement it on your site. Don't be intimidated when you first start. The code might look a bit confusing but you'll quickly get the hang of it. If you want even more lessons than what the video below provides, go to w3schools.com for a long list of basic and intermediate lessons. They provide tons of tutorials on many different web languages. For now, check out the video to get a basic understanding of PHP. Enjoy!
