Book Review: Harboring A Deep Secret

The Roberts, a prominent, small town family, has been harboring a deep secret and enabling a sick family member for too many years. Evil like this cannot stay silenced, especially with the ramped gossip among New Attica's intimacy-starved housewives and nosy neighbors. When Jenny Masters returns to her hometown 10 years after being abused and exiled by the Roberts, she has not forgiven, nor forgotten the long-term emotional suffering inflicted on her by Dr. Samuel Roberts' pedophilic ways and the family's "blood is thicker than water" mind-set. The Roberts' housekeeper sets the tone of the novel when she exclaims, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. And I do believe that the Roberts family scorned that girl."

As Jenny faces her tortured memories, she yearns to avenge the family who robbed her of her adolescent innocence. With talk of a missing New Attica girl rumored to have relocated and not having kept in touch with her family, the ENTIRE mystery of the Roberts begins to unravel, and we realize that Jenny is not the only skeleton in the Roberts' basement.

Jenny will need help if she is to expose this powerful and dangerous dynasty. Author L.A. Noble introduces myriad characters and personalities to help rid New Attica of the festering disease of "secrecy" planted and nurtured by the family of doctors.

Is Jenny in over her head? Or will her allies, like the "crime fighting" duo Max, a computer analyst, and Michelle, a garden shop owner, aid her revenge? Don't worry, Noble has cleverly anointed Max and Michelle with plenty of pestering challenges of their own, least of all their obvious desire to have each other.

Classified family secrets, sex addiction, murder, forbidden relations, ex-wives and the broke doctors who can't support them...and that's not all! Noble packs a full house in this mystery with character quality and an appealing story. Join Miss Noble's growing fan base of witted readers and discover why it is About Time Already.
