Weight loss does not mean starving yourself or limit the great tasting foods. There are several smart calorie recipes out there, from soups, main courses, desserts (yes, you've got it right, even on a
diet, you can still enjoy a sweet).
For example, many people do not know that chocolate is actually healthy. Chocolate comes from plants and contains a number of antioxidants that are 8 times more than can be derived from strawberries,
helping to fight the aging process. It also contains serotonin and endorphins which makes you happy and optimistic about your dieting efforts. Too much of a good thing can be bad for you. The key is to
enjoy this wonderful food in moderation.
Here is the recipe for a basic, healthy dark chocolate cake. To do this, you will need cup all-purpose flour, a quarter cup of almonds (crushed), 5 tablespoons cocoa powder, a teaspoon of baking
powder, a quarter teaspoon of salt, 4 oz . beet finely grated (you can also peel the beets and pop it in a blender), fat or low fat milk, 2 tablespoons of black coffee (or its equivalent can be used by
dissolving soluble coffee in hot water) three large-sized eggs and a cup of sugar.
Combine dry ingredients in a bowl, ie, flour, almonds, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt.
In another bowl, beat eggs and sugar until a fluffy texture is achieved. Gradually pour in the beet buttermilk and coffee and beat vigorously. Pour in the dry ingredients and mix until smooth. Ensure
that there are no lumps in the mix.
Pour the mixture into a nonstick baking sheet (or baking sheet lined with wax plain paper) and cook at 150 C for 35 minutes or less. You can check if the cake is done by penetrating the cake with a
toothpick If the bits of cake stick to it, then it must remain in the oven for a while.
When the cake is done, let it cool off for about 10 to 15 minutes, so prepare the icing. To do this, you will need half a cup of dark chocolate chips, 2 tablespoons of honey and black coffee. Using a
nonstick skillet, melt all ingredients over low heat. Once everything is well mixed, take the pan from the heat and spread the icing around the cake with a spatula.
If you are not a big fan of icing, you can skip this step and serve the cake as it is, next to tea or coffee. It is a comfort food incredibly delicious and it does not pack as much fat as the store
bought versions. Based on the measurements, this should serve 10, with an estimated 222 calories per serving.
