The Importance Of Recycled Glass Art

The environmentally conscious are becoming more aware of the fact that there is a need to reduce waste and reuse what they have. One major concern along those lines are the glass bottles that take an extremely long time to decompose. Some estimate that it may take around a million years to see the process reach completion. What then are the alternatives? Some have found that the creation of recycled glass art is an effective solution.

The makers of jewelry for instance will use the glass from their favorite beverage containers and use it to make glass beads. They then string those beads together to create necklaces, bracelets, anklets, and earrings. Thus another medium is made available to an artist to create beautiful and wearable artwork. One interesting aspect of this type of creation is that each individual that creates such art does so in their own way.

One may like the look and feel of sea glass to be incorporated into the design that they are working on. They do this because they want to express their love for that particular type of glass. When they can not find enough of what they need on the beach then they take pieces of broke bottles and tumble them with sand to create that unique smoothness that is associated with years being washed by the ocean.

Another way in which beads for jewelry are made is to infuse confetti into the glass. This takes a bit of heat as the glass has to be molten for it to work. Thus the glass in a piece of jewelry can be given a more stylish look.

Beads though are not the only form of art that a glass bottle can contribute its body to. Wine and beer bottles for instance have been used in the building of temples, outdoor grills, Christmas trees, and in the walls of a house. Why use this type of glass in the construction of a building? One answer is that once construction is complete the sun shining through the wall of different color glass is a beautiful sight.

It is fortunate though that those who do not know much about the construction trade can find a simpler way to accomplish the recycling that they seek. After all bottles can be used as a hummingbird feeder, lamp, wind chimes, a plant watering globe, and as a decorative item in the form of a sculpture in the home. Of course that is only a small part of the list that one can choose from to find uses for the glass that one wishes to recycle. After all one is only limited by one's imagination.

Recycled glass art is important and should be encouraged. It is something that reduces the amount of trash that goes into our landfills every year. The beauty and enjoyment one can experience through the studying of a piece of art should also be considered as well.
