Cooking homemade pumpkin pie this Halloween is a great idea. Once you know the correct steps, it becomes very easy to prepare delicious pumpkin pie in no time. The ingredients required for the pie are: 2 cups of pumpkin puree, 2 - 3 eggs, 1 cup of evaporated milk, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, 1 tsp ground ginger, 1/3rd cup of firmly packed brown sugar, cup of sugar, tsp salt, tsp ground nutmeg and tsp ground cloves.
Begin by cooking the pumpkin puree for the pie. For this you'll need a fresh pumpkin. Wash it thoroughly. Cut the pumpkin into half. Scrape out the fibre and the seeds from it. Apply a coat of vegetable oil on the exterior of it. Put it on the pan for roasting with 1 cup of water. Properly bake it for 75 to 90 minutes. Wisp out the flesh of the pumpkin. Then mix the flesh properly so that it is completely pureed.
We will now go ahead with the preparation of the pie filling. Preheat the oven at 350 F by placing it at the center of the oven rack. Whisk 2 to 3 eggs properly on a mixing bowl. Then pour the pumpkin puree, brown sugar, ground nutmeg, evaporated milk, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and salt, all in a bowl and mix together properly. Keep the mixture in a bowl or store in the fridge.
Take a pie crust and warm it in the oven. Now take the pumpkin mix and pour it on the warm pie crust. Bake the mix for 35-40 minutes. The filling should be a bit quivery, somewhat like gelatine when nudged.
Now cool the pie and refrigerate it. Your pumpkin pie is ready now. You can serve it cold, or at room temperature or even you can warm it a bit before serving. Use Crisco oil while preparing your pumpkin pie, as it adds both taste and health to your cuisine.
